A winter's day on the banks of the Guiers Mort, near Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse: the water runs between the rocks with the particular transparency of mountain rivers, while the winter light plays in warm and cool contrasts on the stone. It is this movement of the water and these oppositions of warm and cool light, found again on every visit to this spot, that inspired this new scene.
